Good Knots :
The Palomar is a good all around knot, easy to tie and very strong for
braid and standard mono or co-polymer lines.

Pro Tips !

Rigging Swimbaits
4/0 Falcon weighted hook with Gamakatsu stinger hook. DON'T insert
the hook point thru the nose- instead, insert the eye of the
hook from the belly side and push the eye of the
hook OUT thru the nose. This will keep from tearing up the nose,
the bait will last longer and not start sliding down the hook
on casts. Also, you need to bend the 4/0 hook slightly to get
the point to lay straight instead of pointing down towards the
bait- a tiny amount of pressure with pliers on the bend of the
hook will do it.

The stinger hook is a 1/0 Gamakatsu short-shank hook (commonly used
for wacky rigging senkos) . Tied to 50LB. braid line and a simple
loop knot over the big hook, insert the hook point slightly behind
the big hook and work it backwards thru the hollow body to where
you want it.

Winter fishing Lake Pleasant, Peoria, Az.
Pleasant can be an extra tough lake, especially during the winter months
when the bass are deep and lethargic. In winter, try using
your sonar in water depths of about 30' to 40' or even deeper
to locate concentrations of fish arches on or near the bottom.
Use a drop shot
set up rigged with 5 or 6 pound test fluorocarbon and a
4" Morning Dawn (Hurricane color 47). Most bites will be very
subtle and feel like a mushy extra weight on your line. Set
the hook!
Hurricane Morning Dawn:
If your sonar shows suspended fish in those depth ranges, up off the bottom,
try using a jigging spoon. Drop the spoon right in front
of your sonar and watch it go down on the sonar screen to the
same depth as the fish. A spinning rod rig makes this much
quicker to do. Quickly jerk the spoon up about 3' or so and
let it flutter back down in a controlled manner- bites can
come at any time. By maintaining good boat position you can
actually watch fish move in on the sonar and be ready for a
bite! Good luck !
